Private dining at home is increasingly popular for occasions that don't call for a reception venue — a couple's anniversary, a family reunion, an informal business dinner — but where the host still wants a hassle-free evening in the kitchen.
The idea is simple: one of our chefs comes directly to your home, with the shopping and equipment already sorted. No shopping list to draw up, no prep dishes to deal with, no last-minute kitchen scramble while your guests arrive.
A typical evening starts a few hours before service: the chef arrives with fresh ingredients chosen for the agreed menu, sets up in your kitchen and begins preparation. Depending on your kitchen's size and the number of guests, they may work alone or with an assistant for larger dinners.
At service time, the chef plates the dishes and serves directly at the table, or organises a paced, plated service depending on how many courses are planned. It's a format that allows real contact with the chef — many of our clients enjoy the few words exchanged about the dishes or ingredients used, a closeness you don't get in a larger reception setting.
By the end of the evening, the chef cleans their work area and leaves with their equipment — you're left with a clean kitchen and nothing to deal with once your guests have gone. A detail many clients appreciate after an already full evening.
This format works well for anywhere from a few guests up to around ten in most homes — beyond that, a more traditional event catering package usually fits better. Tell us about your private dinner project to receive a menu proposal and a chef available on your date.
